Lab 4: Trust

For this lab, we went to Target and asked people if we could use their cell phones. This lab tests people's trust of different stereotypes.

  1. I thought that this Lab was really interesting and enjoyable to watch because it really made me realize that the people these days are way less trusting than you think they would be.Seeing that even when Patterson( which was the preppy clean girl) didnt have that many that trusted her to use their phone which was surprising. I can see why people might think that since reagan was dressed up as a slut that people might get the wrong idea about Her and that might have been why they didnt lend her their phone. But it owuld be really interesting to see if people were as trusting or less if a guy was to ask to use the phone.

  2. I loved this video! This was so unique and very, very real. It was great to see real peoples reactions because it most likely caught them off guard. The camera crew also did a great job because that must have been hard to tape this without being noticed. Very good video!

  3. THIS WAS AN AMAZING IDEA!!!!! It really showed you how people react to looks and judge people very quickly. Trust a big thing and I think that everyone judges a little bit on looks and no one can really help that. I think that if a stranger came up to me and aksed to borrow my phone I would say no, no matter how they looked!!!

  4. I loved this video!! It was so funny to see people's reactions when you caught them off gaurd. Also, it was funny to see the lies people would make up for an excuse! I think it shows a lot about our country and that it is not as trusting as it should be. How can social capital work if we can't trust each other? What if somebody really did need to use a cell phone for an emergency?

I think this is a really good example on how people will lie to your face just depending what you look like. You know everyone of those people had cells phones that worked, it was just whether or not they trusted people enough to let someone borrow it.

  6. I really enjoyed this video. I pretty much agree with the other people. It's amazing what people will say just to lie to get away from things. Pretty awesome you guys. Especially with me in the end riding the bike. Remember you guys that is why I enjoy going to Wal-Mart and Target!!!

  7. As somewhat being a part of this lab (haha) I thought it was really interesting the way you all approached this lab. I found it very interesting to see how people do make judgements based on looks. This video simply shows how much Americans as a whole do not trust each other.

  8. This really shows how people do not trust you because the way you look. This was a great idea to do a video because you got to see how people reacted to you. Great Job!

  9. Wow, this is such an interesting video! It is such a creative way to see how many people we really can trust. I wish more people had said yes, what if there was an emergency?! But i guess some people really do "judge a book by its cover". haha. Great Job! :)
